Historical Note
Rev. Neil Kenneth Campbell (1915-2000) served the United Church of Canada for over twenty-five years. Campbell was born in Mosa Township, Ontario on August 12, 1915. In 1935, he graduated from with a degree in education and in 1941, he commenced post-graduate studies at the University of Western Ontario. Campbell then moved to Winnipeg to study theology. He was ordained in 1944 and his first charges included The Pas, Atlantic Avenue United Church in Winnipeg, and Knox United Church in Port Arthur, Ontario (now Thunder Bay). Rev. Campbell became Superintendent of Home Missions in 1960, and remained in that position until his retirement in June of 1966.
Scope and content
The surviving records of Rev. Neil K. Campbell include a slide collection dating from 1942 to 1969 made up of 972 slides, pertaining to churches, residential schools, homes, ministers, teachers and students and a dramatic production entitled ‘Who Will Go For Us?’.
Custodial history
The records of Rev. Neil K. Campbell were donated to the Archives of the Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario by Rev. N. K. Campbell in 1986. The records were accessioned in 1987.
