Historic Note

Rev. J. A. C. Kell served in the northern Manitoba First Nations communities of God’s Lake from 1922 to 1923, and Oxford House from 1926 to 1930.

Scope and Content

The surviving records of Rev. J.A.C. Kell include: Articles entitled ‘The Christian Life’, ‘Why We Are Protestants’ and ‘What Jesus Means to Me’, dating from around 1929; Manuscripts entitled ‘Wetigoes or What?, ‘I Was at God’s Lake’, and ‘The Social Organization of the Northern Crees’, dating from around 1928; Excerpts and fragments from pamphlets and publications, 1917-1923; and Letters, from Rev. F.G. Stevens, Rev. J.W. Niddrie and others, dating from 1927 to 1956.

Custodial History

The records of Rev. J.A.C. Kell came to the archives of the Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of a transfer of records in 1987.
